Our EHS&S Manager, Chris Abrenica, attended the 25th California Unified Program Annual (CUPA) Training Conference held March 20-23 in Anaheim, CA. The CUPA Training Conference presented by the California CUPA Forum is an annual compliance training for regulators and focuses on hazardous waste/tier permitting, California accidental release prevention, hazardous materials business plans and much more. This year's theme was "honoring the past, embracing the future." 

After 3 years, we are finally back at the Palm & Lauric Oils Price Outlook Conference & Exhibition (POC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This great networking event is hosted by Bursa Malaysia Derivatives.The event also serves as a forum to discuss topics such as supply and demand of major edible oils as well as market trends and trade possibilities.

Norman, Fox & Company is pleased to annouce this year's 7th Annual Don O'Shea Employee of the Year Award to our Warehouse/Shipping Manager, Erik Chavez. Erik has shown great leadership and dedication throughout his years at Norman Fox. The Norfox Team is really appreciative of all the outstanding work that he does.

In following our commitment to help the community where we live and work, we conducted a food drive within our facility as a way for our employees to give back during the Thanksgiving season. All food items were donated to the Shepherd's Pantry in Glendora, CA.

The Norfox family is saddened to announce that Pauline (Polly) Oyer passed at the age of 93.  Polly worked for Norman, Fox & Company from 1974 to 1994. Originally hired as a secretary, she went into sales when a position opened.  Polly was a celebrity in the marketplace for being the only woman salesperson in the industry at that time and quickly proved her capabilities.

We honor Polly not only for her contributions to Norman, Fox & Co, but also as a trailblazer for women salespeople in the chemical industry.

The Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts have recognized Norman, Fox & Co. as Good Corporate Citizen. The Sanitation Districts recognize companies that discharge individual wastewater that met and often exceeded strict requirements for protection of public health and the enviroment.

Green chemistry is the design of chemical products and processes that reduce or eliminate the generation and use of hazardous substances. This year’s winners have developed new and innovative green chemistry technologies that provide solutions to significant environmental challenges, and spur innovation and economic development.

Winners include:

Many surfactants used in traditional cleaners are made from petroleum-based materials and can be highly toxic. SugaBoost surfactants are plant-based, biodegradable, generate no air emissions or wastewater discharges, and don’t contain known carcinogens or endocrine disruptors. They perform as well or better than toxic, energy-intensive petroleum-based surfactants, creating the potential to yield huge environmental improvements in the cleaning industry.
